Training

There are now three levels of UK Amateur Radio Licence; Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced that are done in sequence. Here at Oldham Amateur Radio Club as a registered RSGB Examination Centre we run UK Amateur Licence Courses and Examinations for Foundation and Intermediate Licences.

Foundation Licence

To begin transmitting on amateur radio you need to pass a multi-choice test. This is then your gateway to the world of amateur radio.

Intermediate Licence

Once you have your Foundation amateur radio licence and have gained experience operating, it may be time for you to move on to an Intermediate Licence. This carries with it more privileges along with more responsibilities as a radio amateur.

Full Licence

Maybe you are ready now to take on the UK’s ultimate amateur radio qualification. The Full Radio Communications exam leading to the issuing of a Full Licence. A lot of privileges and responsibilities come with a Full Licence, not least from the fact that you will be able to transmit at up to 400 watts of power.
