Amateur
Radio Licensing
There are
3 types of Amateur Radio Licenses available in Great
Britain.
The
Advanced Radio Amateur Licence, the Intermediate Radio Amateur Licence
and the Foundation Radio Amateur Licence
Advanced
Radio Amateur Licence
 | The
"Advanced" license
holder can operate on all frequencies allocated to Radio Amateurs at the
maximum power levels allowed by the regulations
To obtain this licence, passes in the Foundation Course, the Intermediate
Course and the Advanced Radio
Amateur Examination must be achieved. |
Intermediate
Radio Amateur Licence
 |
The Intermediate
Licence holder can operate at reduced power levels in all
Amateur Radio bands.
To obtain this licence the candidate must hold a Foundation Amateur Radio
Licence
and must have passed the Intermediate Radio Amateurs Examination.

Foundation
Radio Amateur Licence
 | The
Foundation Licence holder has access to the majority of the popular Radio
Amateur Bands using maximum power level of 10Watts.
To obtain this licence,
an approved course of study organised by the Radio Society of Great
Britain must be completed followed by an assessment test comprising 25
multiple choice questions. The course and assessment to be administered by
authorised
local Amateur Radio Clubs. |
